Otto Suri holds masters (Architecture) and post graduate (Construction Management) Diplomas from ETH Zurich, ranked by the London Times in the top ten best technical universities in the world. He is a Registered Architect of Switzerland and member of the Swiss Institute of Architects & Engineers SIA and a graduate member of the NZIA.

Otto has won many architectural contest awards in a wide range of building types.

 

Otto’s curriculum embraces experience in world best architects practices such as Prof. Arch. W Dunkel, Zurich; Prof. Arch. A Roth, Zurich; Prof. Arch. PL Spadolini, Florence; Prof. Arch. G Contavelis, Beirut; M Zuber IDEP; Beirut, M Schlup, Biel; O Lutstorf, Bern.

 

Otto has extensive expertise as a senior architect in several countries. He also worked in Italy and in the Middle East, where he was engaged as responsible architect by leading architects in Beirut for big projects such as the extension of the Beirut International Airport, the Saudi governmental buildings in Taif and the National Oil Company building in Bahrain.

 

For the Swiss Government Otto brought in application his acquired management skills in the construction domain, accumulated through his career as an architect and his Post Grade Studies.

 

At Planconsult, Basel, Otto was responsible for investigating and revising Swiss Governmental buildings with regard to budget, quality and time schedule.

Otto lead the Technical Office of the Swiss Federal Office of Lodging, responsible for the technical and financial examination of applications regarding housing projects subsidised by the Swiss Government. He also was involved with the revision and practical use of the Dwelling Valuation System as base of the allocation of subsidies.

 

As head of the Buildings and Information Technology Staff of the ETH-Rat (Council of the Swiss Federal Institutes of Technology, leading the two technical universities in Zurich ETHZ and EPFL Lausanne, plus the four Research Institutes EMPA, EAWAG, WSL and Paul Scherrer Institute)

 

Otto was responsible for the overall financial planning and controlling of all aspects of buildings of the ETH domain, the budget allocations to each of the six institutions (in total a yearly budget of 500 million Swiss Francs), strategic management presence –and with reports- of the major projects throughout the construction process, regarding quality, costs and time schedule.  

 

Since 2000 he has created delightful homes and renovations for clients in the beautiful Bay of Islands, New Zealand.

In addition to English Otto speaks German, French and Italian, so he is able to communicate with many international clients in their native language.
